We are moving out of the Thomas Creek Barn and going to 40777 24rth St in Lyons ( Rocking Horse Ranch) on Aug 8 2009.
Projects that need to be done include setting up the round pen, digging hitching rails, cutting down poplars for fencing, and putting up a barb wire fence so that the horses can be turned loose on the acreage there. we will also need to dry lot our " fatties" Little Star, Sasha, and Sheika. Also, we may be getting Snoopy back, she is a great kids horse, and can only be used for light riding for now. Also would like to see her gain a little weight, we may have to fence her into her own section to make her care easier.
We may have opportunities for rafting, if you have a personal raft and want to run the Santiam river, let us know.
We also have a new reservation system coming into place. You will find a link on every page.

Lots has been happening at the barn! We had a nice cleanup on monday, got a ton of stuff done. We posted the volunteers board. We want to welcome our new volunteers, Richard and Janna. Thank you both!
All of the horses are being rounded up and moved to the barn on Thomas Creek, will make it much safer for all of the horses, and make it easier for the crew to keep an eye on them. That being said, we need every one to keep to thier schedules so that the horses will be fed, watered and cared for properly. Don't forget to record your time there and mileage. We have a board for notices- changes in feed, temperment ect. Read it!!! this will tell you who gets fed what and where they should be kept, and how to treat any injuries.
I am putting a temporary sign up on the roads so that we can get more saddles filled to cover our bills. Right now, we need about $4,500 to cover a year of care and that is just hay, wormer, horseshoer and shots. Does not cover vet checks and emergency care. we need 3to5 rides a week to cover costs.

Today is Thursday, June 25.
Went and got the truck and trailer last night. Our free temporary pasture is being rented out by the owner, so we have to move the horses by Sat. This means we need to set up a water trailer at Rocking Horse Ranch on 24rth St, so the horses will get water. I am going to see if one of the staff can go pick up the blue barrels from a place in town, this will probably cost the club about $85. Horses will have to be moved Sat morning. Also need to go get the fencing panels from Jefferson to be able to train horses and give lessons safely.
We now have 6 people signed up for the BBQ, we are expecting a total of 4 to ride and eat that paid for the tickets.
Thank you all! Your contributions will allow us to get our liability going so that we can start bringing in kids and have programs here for at risk youth.
Also, if anyone is interested in a timeshare at Riocking Horse Ranch, we have spots open for RV's with septic. You can also lease ground for parking a trailer or cabin. We have room to pasture board 3 horses at $75 a month until the winter season starts. Then board will be $165 a month with hay provided.
We have a need to get the care home for the elderly filled up at Rocking Horse Ranch, or we may not be able to use this great site any more. If youhave a freind or loved one that is in need of care, there will be full time staff at this home. Imagine! they can watch wildlife horses, share an outside cat or dog, and have lots of freinds and activity to watch or be a part of. Please let us know.
We are going to see a tax lawyer today, to ask questions about the 501c and other things that need to be done, will give a report on that tommorrow.
